Solar has always been the sexiest of the renewable energy sources - it’s HOT.

In the past, energy sources such as solar-thermal, solar-electric (AKA: photovoltaic or PV for short), wind, geoexchange, geothermal, small hydro, and so on, have been referred to as “alternative energy”.

Today, given the price of a barrel of oil, these energy sources will no longer be ‘alternatives’; they will be the norm.
